Networking in College

As an aspiring professional, it is important that you never lose sight of your goals. Hopefully, that goal is to be a successful, thriving professional. College is a great time to discover your role in the world, what you hope to do and how you want to do it. The only problem is, it's difficult to reach the top on your own, networking will always lead you down the best route. There are so many ways to network in college. Here are my top three:

1. Peers

Of course, your peers will be you first networking opportunity! You are surrounded by the future, so make sure you make good connections with your peers because you never know who will become what in the future. If you don't know them, reach out. There is nothing wrong with introducing yourself and swapping numbers to help each other out in class.

2. Professors

Most of the time, your professors were professionals in their designated fields for a long time. If you have a question or concern, reach out to them and show them your personality. If they find an opportunity for that may suit you, you will be the first one they think of and that can help you out so much.

3. Resources

Universities have all kinds of professional development resources, take advantage of that. If there's a workshop on public speaking, attend it and speaks to the organizers and fellow attendees. If there's an interesting screening for a film, attend it and chat with the filmmakers. All these opportunities can open doors for you that you never knew existed so make the most of it.
